THE WAR LOAN.

Our readers- have had the opportunity or studying the prospectus of the New Zealand 'War Loan of £12,000,009. which has now been definitely placed before tho public. We hope, however, that they will do more than merely study it. The terms offered by the Finance Minister make the loan sufficiently attractive as an investment, but it is the,duty of every loyal citizen to look at the matter from a much higher point of view, and to regard it a^ a patriotic duty to lend as much money to the Government as he possibly can. *The War Purposes Loan is a prime necessity. Our army must be fed, clothed and liberally supplied with munitions. A£ this critical stage or the great conflict, when a final and supreme effort is required to attain the victory which will assuredly be ours if we do not falter, it is 'imperative that the strength and efficiency of our forces shall be maintained. To that end money is essential, and it is up "to those who cannot take part in the fighting to supply it. In that way they can help to win the war, and that, too, without entailing upon themselves any material sacrifice. On the contrary, a3#we have already said, the terms of the loan are attractive, offering a good rate of interest and the best possible security, while the dividends are free of income-tax and war-tax. No. question of political faith or private opinion should be permitted to influence any man or woman against responding to this great national call. The appeal is to all—to. the person of modest means and small savings, and to the wealthy capitalist. Let all respond in a spirit in keeping with the worthy part New Zealand has already played in. the great war.
