FINAL GALLOPS AT RICCARTON.
CHRISTCHUECH, August 14. The weather was cold and the Riccarton tracks heavy after the rainSnub and Waxdanoer did six furlongs ia 1.24 3-5. Disdainful covered four in 52 2-5, Johnny Walker in 1.6 2-5. Cardrona beat Sir Agnes and Raumanuwliiri over six in 1.23; Parisian Diamond beat Miss Deval for seven furbugs in 1.37 2-5; Dionysius beat Marconi and Te Onga over seven furlongs in 1.37; Tipup beat Zuland over seven in 1.36 2-5; Lady Penury beat Thames and Minesweeper in 1.38; King Star ran 7 furlongs in 1.3S 2-5; Fiery Cross assisted by Killjoy, did six furlongs in 1.21 1-5; Art a mile in 1.50 1-5, being brought home by Riga; Killard beat Lion over seveii furlongs in 1.38 2-5; Rajput beat Probation over five in 1.8 2-5; Crib and Kaupokonui ran once round the fences, jumping fairly well. DiavoJo, Sandy Paul, and St. Elmn started for a round of the country. The last pair lost their riders at the double but afterwards jumped safely. Compulsion and San Sebastian jumped two hurdles smartly. Bon Reve and Sleight-of-Hand jumped two hurdles brilliantly, and Rewi Poto covered three hurdles alone safely. Coalition went once round the fences well; Handsome Boy accompanied him, but his exhibition was moderate, and he fell at the last fence. St. Curio jumped two hurdles smartly, and Salathiel did a similar performance. Tangihaere jumped, the brush fence at a slow pace. A large number of other horses did useful pacing and short sprints.
