AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.

EVERYBODY'S

'THE LOTTERY MAN" AND "THIS WOMAN WHO DARED."

''The Lottery Man" is the star film ">n the change of programme to be instituted at Everybody's Theatre to-day. The leading character is a young college man, who, thrown on his own resources, gets a job as a reporter. Then he gets a great idea. He induces tht? paper to start a lottery, with himself as the prize. He agrees to marry the woman who holds the lucky number, or, if she refuses him, she is to have hair of the grand prize of 100,000 dollars, and lie is to get the rest. Then he falls in love with his chum's cousin, and repents the lottery plan. From this point matters become tangled, but the end is a happy one. The second feature is a really brilliant production, entitled "The Woman Who .Dared," and features the celebrated operatic prinri donna, Beatrice Michelena, who has already been seen with signal success on the screen. "The Woman Who Dared" is not a sex pcture, but a tense dramatic story of political intrigue and international diplomacy, and is taken from the novel by the popular authors, A. N. and C. N. Williamson. Mystery is the dominant note, but there are powerful dramatic situations such as are seldom reached, and which hold the onlooker breathless with interest till the end. Other good pictures complete a sterling programme.

DOUBLE STAR PROGRAMME

AT HIS MAJESTY'S TO-NIGHT.

An entire change of programme will be screened at His Majesty's Theatre to-night, when Alice Brady will make her ie-appearance in "The Angel of Mercy," a story of Czardom at its worst, which affords vivid glimpses of the violence and wiekedne>ss of the despotism which was the curse of Russia. The story shows how.a father unknowingly brings disgrace and imprisonment upon his own daughter. Wonderful scenes oi n the trackless wastes of snow, with the ex'les on their weary JGurney to a living death in the mines of Siberia, are shown. Good supports include CharhV Chaplin in his latest Mutual feature, j "Behind i.he Screen." The fun takes| place in a moving picture studio, and is said to be this popular screen star's greatest laugh-producer to date. The latest number of the "Topical Budget" completes the programme.
