U.S. SHIPS REPEL AN ATTACK

BALTIMORE, August 14
Armed American ships at Santa Marie, in the Azores, recently repelled an attack by a large submarine, which appeared outside the breakwater and shelled the city and later sank seven fishing boats a hundred miles off the coast.
