LONDON, August 13. In the House of Commons, Mr Jas. Hope stated that the Government was giving attention to the question of conferring with Turkey regarding prisoners similarly to the recent 'ihe Hague conference with Gertnanv.
LONDON, August 13. In the House of Commons, the Rio-ht Hon. Bonar Law stated that the Crown Law officers had advised the Government that it is illegal for British subjects to confer with enemies without the Crown's license. The Government had decided not to grant permission. He pointed out that the American, French, and Italian Governments had decided similarly.
AMSTERDAM, August 13. Dr Michaelis, interviewed, said that direct taxation on income a-i capital would Lo insufficient to cover the afterw^r budget. People must accept the introduction of State monopolies and increases of prices.
