A TRAGIC AFFAIR.
AUCKLAND, August 13. .Tames W. Hooker, aged 58, was knocked down in the street by a, Maori, who was endeavouring to escape arrest when pursued by a constable. The Maori collided violently with Hooker, who complained of severe pains in tiie abdomen and leg, and was conveyed to hospital, where he died.
