STOCK SALE REPORTS

F. R. JACKSON AND CO.'S (LTD ) STOCK REPORT. '

Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., report us follows : —

On the 2nd inst. we conducted a clearing sale of dairy cows on account yf Mr V. Blyt-ne, Wangaehu. We had a fair attendance, and the following prices were realised:: Best cows £12 iOs to £17 10s; good cows 10 gns to £12; medium do. £9 os to £10; heifers (,good) £6 iss to £9 10s; medium do. £7 to £7 15s; milking plant, £55. On Friday, the 3rd inst., w,e sold (in conjunction with the Farmers' Co-opt)*, ative Coy.), Hurley villt, Mr J. Vincent's cows, sundries, etc. The attendance was good, and bidding free, everything selling in vendor's favour. \Ve quote: —

Best cows £15 10s to £19 10s; good tows £.12 to £14 10s; medium do. £9 to £11 10s: backward heifers £o 103 to £6 JOs; sundries—drill £27; roller £17, waggon £15, harness 5 gns, plough £9, mower £16 10s, usual sundries selling well.

Pigs.—Sows'in pig 35s to £3 10s: stores 22s to 255; others 15s. Horses:—Harness horses £13 to £19; others £8 10s to 10 gns. Cattle.—Mixed yearlings £3 10s Gd, empty 2 to 2^-year heifers £7 2s; bull £9 ss. Sheep—wethers 28s 6d; mixed "hoggets 22s 3d.

On the 7th inst. we conducted a dairy sale oh account of Mr W. Best, Westmere. We had a good attendance ol buyers. Bidding was brisk, and everything sold at prices in vendor's favour. Wo quote:—

Best cows £14 10s to £15 10s; good cpws £12 10s to £13 15s; medium do. £10 to £11 10s; backward do. £8 5s to £9 10s; bulls £10 to £11.

On the Bth inst., at our Wanganui sale, we yarded 260 head of cattle, 3900 sheep' and 20 pigs. We had a good attendance, and sold the bulk of, the sheep at satisfactory prices. Cattle sold afc ruling values, according to quality. A short entry oi' pigs sold well. We quote:—

Fat cows (good) £16 2s 6d; light do. 10 gns; 2-year dairy heifers in calf, £7 Gs; empty cows £8 to £8 15s; 15-mths. heifers £5 to 5 gns* store cows £6; yearlings (small) £2 16s; fat bullocks (light) £17 18s; mixed weaners £2 6s; bulls £3 10s to £7.

Sheep.—Forward wethers 365; 6-th. wethers 34s Sd; light fat wethers 38s; store wethers 30s to 335; others 295; ewes in lamb 23s to 275; mixed hoggets 24s to 26s 9d; ewe hoggets 28s to 295; black-faced hoggets 23s 4d; empty ew,es 245; medium hoggets 23s 4d; ewes m lamb to Southdowns 30s.

Pigs.—Heavy porkers £3 lls; fair por,kers £2 Is to £2 4s 6d; others 27s 6d to 31s; empty sows £3 12s; vealers £3 2d 63.

At the Waverley sale on Friday last we Had a fair entry of stock. Bidding for hoggets was brisk, and the bhlk of the entry sold. Quotations: — Good hoggets 28s 7d; fair hoggets 255; medium do. 235.4 dto 23s 7d; empty ewes 20s 6d: bjack-faced hoggets 23s 9d; springing heifers (good) £12; 20----months heifers £7 to £7 ss; springing cows £10 to £12; yearlings 4 gns; calv-, es 3 gns. Sows in pig £3.

Dalegty and Go., Ltd:;, Palmerston North,, .report' having a very fair entry of sheep and a. fair yarding of cattle at their Feilding sale on Friday last. Competition was good throughout the day, and practically a total clearance effected. Quotations: — Cull hoggets 11s 7d to 12s 3d; small hoggets los 4d to 16s lOd; fair hogg,et» to 19s 6d; good hoggets 23s 6d to 27s lid; weaner steers £4; yearling steers £6 9s; backward store cows 5 gns to -£7 15s; dairy heifers to £10 15s.

Abraham and Williams. Ltd., report as follows:— At Feilding on the 10th inst. we offered a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle. 'The market for all clashes showed a marked improvement. Prices were as follows:— . >

At Palmerston North on the 9th inst. we had a fair yarding of sheep, which changed hands at fair prices, and a heavy yardjng of cattle. Prices were as follows: Ewes in lamb 22s'. 2-tooth wethers 28s 6d; mixed hoggets 265; cull ewes lls to 15s; fat cows £10 to £11; forward cows £8 to £9 12s 6d; store cows £4 10s to £7 6s; cows in milk £9 10s to £12 10s; yearling steers £4 I.os to £5; mixed yearlings £2 12s 6d to £3 ss.

Abraham and Williams'; Ltd., report on the Marton sale held last Tuesday: We had a full yarding of sheep, which consisted of mostly hoggets. Prices were very satisfactory throughout, only two or three pens being unsold. A fair yarding of cattle. also met with a good sale. We quote:— Best -wether hoggets 29s 9d to 31s; good sorts 24s to 26s 9d; medium do. 16s lOd to 18s 6d; good ewe .hoggets 31s 4d; small do. 21s to 25s 6d; best m.s. do. 30 to 33s 8d; fail- sorts 23s to 275; small, 18s to 20s; oull, 7s'to 13s 3d; m.s. 2-tooths 32s 9d; 2-tooth wethers 34s 9d; fat wethers 395. 9d to 40s 3d. • ■

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report for the week ending the 11th inst: Sales have been held a.t Rangiotu, Kimbolton, Palmerston North. Feildine, and a dairy sale on. account of Mr E. R. SanncWs. Glen Oroua.

At Rangiotu on Monday we had a fair entry of cattle, which sold at late

rates: Store cows, inferior. £2 11s to £5 12s; fair store cows £6 8s to £7; forward cows £8 os, £9 4s; cows with calves £7 7s 6d; springing heifers £7 7 S 6d to £8 12s 6d. ■

On Tuesday we held a sale of dairy stock on account of Mr E. R. Sannders, Glen Oroua. The attendance was not large, owing principally to the flooded state of some of the roads. The herd of 40 cows averaged £11 ss, the best prices being from £12 to £16----heifers sold from £7 10s to £11 ss; sow £3.'

At Kimbolton on Wednesday there was a, good entry of sheep and cattle, in spite of the rough and boisterous weather. Bidding was not brisk and several lines went out unsold. Medium hoggets 20s to 21s; fair hogg,ets 25s 2d to 25s 6d; aged ewes 17s 6d; cows in milk £7 to £8; springing cows £10 to £13.

At Palmerston on Thursday we had a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle. All classes of stock were in demand, and sold readily at recent rates. F. and f. ewes 265; small wethers 26s Gd; fair wether hoggets 23s 7d; fair forward cows £8 4s to £8 10s; 3-year forward empty heifers £11'4s 6d ■ fat cows £11.

At Feilding on Friday a small entry came forward, and met with a failsale. Small hoggets 21s 3d; store ewes 16s 7d; f.m. ewp s in lamb 24s 6d; yearling heifers £4 10s; springing heifers 7 gns to £9 6s; springing cows £11; light fat cows 10 gns.
