WESTMINSTER "SKYSCRAPERS."
There are several " skyscrapers" in Westminster says "Tit Bits", which challenge comparison with the stately towers of the Houses of Parliament. The newest towei —that of Middlesex Guildhall—i s llOf-t. in, height, or more than 100 ft. lower than the dome of the Wesleyan Central Hall, the sumnrt of which is 212 ft. above the ground level. Almost facing these two buildiners the two towers of Westminster Abbey rise skywards 225 ft., while the great campanile of the Roman Catholic Cathedral, off Victoria Street, rears itself 60ft. higher than the Abbey towers. The Clock Tower and the' Victoria Tower of the Houses of Parliament, however, are still easily supreme, the former boasting a heigh fc of 316 ft., and the latter—the most stupendous tower as distin frudshed from spires, in the world—being 75ft. square and 345 ft. hidi, or, to the top of the vane, 420 ft., 55ft. higher than the cross which crowns the dome of St. Paul's.
