CATHOLIC SALE OF WORK
The Right Rev. Monsignor McKenna opened the sale of work- at the CathoUo School at Aramoho l?.<=t owning, the schoolroom being crowded The selling was brisk during tne whole of the evening. The actual opening of the sale of work was preceded by a. short concert. Greatly appreciated items wero rendered by "Miss McLean and MSpillane (solos), Mr T. Souter (recitations), Master Murphy > (step dr,nce) the pupils of Sister Rita's School and the iaarisli Brothers' scholars.
The big X.M.C.A. tent was crowded last evening, upon the occasion of the visit; of a concert, party from St Paul's Uioir, and a number of their friends A very enjoyable programme was presented, and the "Boys" snowed thelir appreciation m no unmistakable manner, all the items ibeing encored 'in their o-ivn way. Chaplain J. D McKenzie presid d. The programme was as follows:—Pianoforte solo, Miss R .Turvey; Solos, Mrs Greenwood, Misses Maa-tijn CWidUingtou), A^tbury, M ■Paton, Downes; Tread.veil, and'Mr W. Gordon; duct, Misses Paton and Downes; recitation, Chaplain Mc-Ken-tf.e; reading, Mr 11. M. Ritchie; hakas Maori Territorials.. After the singing of "Stand up, Stand v > for Jesus," and a short prayer by Chaplain MeKenzie, the concert concluded with the National Anthem. The party -were thereafter the guests of'the-officers'mess at supper. Chaplain McKenzie thanked the ofneers mess for their kindness to the "Choir and to himself as Chaplain: Col. Hughes responded in a few appropriate words. A/mumber of the party then •adjourned -to the officers' recreation tent, where a few vocal and instrumental items were rendered.
