CANADA'S NEW GOVERNOR.
OTTAWA, November 27. The Duke of Devonshire, in his first public speech after his arrival in Canada, declared:—"! have come with an assurance of Britain's determination to carry the struggle through to the end until it will never again be possible for a small clique of mvx to force such an outrage upon civilisation and humanity. The spirit now animating the Empire is ample security that this task will be accomplished."
The Duke of Devonshire was recent- • appointed to succeed the Duke of Connaught as Governor-General of Canada.
