A TRAGEDY AT TAONUI

Taonui, near Feilding, was the scene of a tragedy a few days ago. An elderly woman, Mrs. Wildbor,e, S3 years of age, who lived with her son, was sitting before the fire, when her clothes became ignited. In a few moments- she was enveloped in flames, and ran outside, but fell and died. Her son was away at work at the time of the unfortunate occurrence. Two ladies, who happened to be passing, saved the hoiise, but were too late to be of any assistance to Mrs Wildbore. A memorial service was held at Feilding Salvation Army Barracks. Adjutant Lane, from Palmerston, was present.
