TARANAKI IRON.
NEW PLYMOUTH, October 13. At the statutory meeting of the Iron Ore Smelting Co., the chairman announced that the erection of the works had commenced, the machinery had been ordered, and it was expected that the first furnace, with a capacity of 70 tons weekly, wodkl be running at the end of February The required capital had been secured, and tha share list, had closed almost at once. The following directors were elected: Messrs Payne (chairman) and Fraser (Auckland), Rutherford (Culverden), Laurenscn (Christchurch), and J. A. Heskett, W. H. Moves,- W. JPerm, R. J. Deare, and Jenkins.
