A bumping pitch was that provided on Cook's Gardens number one wicket for the Wanganui B.—St. Paul's "match. Wanganui B. ran up 171—Luxford 43, H. B. Cave not out 33. Hussey 30, being the principal scorers. St. Paul's notched 114 (Murchie 25, Bowkett 21, J. Brown 19), and when stumps were drawn Wanganui B. had lost one wicket for 24. Both teams batted one short.
