AUSTRALIAN RESTRICTIONS TO
BE RELAXED

Dr. Cumpston, the Common wealth director of quarantine, has informed the Hon. Mr. Heaton Rhodes, Minister of Public Health, that he is prepared' to removes all quarantine restrictions on passengers from New Zealand to Australia providing that present and future cases of smallpox be isolated, that contacts are kept under supervision, and that every means to detect unreported cases should be used; that bulletins be forwarded weekly, aj>d that vessels from New Zealand arriving in Sydney be inspected and released under the same conditions that exist regarding people leaving Sydney for other parts of the Commonwealth, namely, an undertaking to bo given to report any illness for 21 days; The conditions regarding the isolation of patients, the Minister said, h?.d been observed in New Zealand throughout, and in order to expedite the removal of the restrictions he has cabled agreeing to the restrictions. The restrictions in New Zealand against Australia had been removed before Christmas.
