In view of the visit of tlie American athletes to New Zealand, an athleticmeeting arranged by the Amateur Athletics Clubs of Canterbury was held at Lancaster Pafrk this afternoon, at which the Americans competed. The.going: was heavy. The attendance of the public was disappointing. The Americans made a fair showing, but were in most of the events too heavily handicapped. Tile principal feature of the day wast the race between G. P. Keddell' (New, Zealand champion) and Tenrpleton (the American crack), in their heat in the--120 yards hurdles handicap, the NewZealand man getting home by a bare margin. The 75 yards invitation race between Templeton and Keddell wasabandoned owing to Keddell being unwell.
