WAIRARAPA (3) v. WELLINGTON.

Wellington, playing against a good sun, invaded Wairarapa's half, Miss Terry sending them back, and the greens (Wairarapa) returned the attack a 25 resulting. Miss Liang made •a burst and came into the Wairarapa quarter, from where Miss Neilson started off by Miss Bambry, took the leather right down to the yellows' circle, who returned. Play hovered on the Wellington quarter line for about three minutes, the ball eventually going over tne goal-line. Wairarapa relieved, and a good dash by them saw Miss Tinney ciear beautifully. A warm shot by Miss Humphries enabled Miss Roadlye to clear splendidly. The yellows came away but Miss Orr headed a great effort, the ball going behind. Up and dewn travelled the ensuing play, Miss Dement being conspicuous in. the Wellington rushes. Wellington now kept in the Wairarapa half, but the greens soon drove them out and the yellows were in difficulties, a hit behind temporarily relieving. A warm shot by Miss Hewson was pushed over by Miss Roadiey, and Miss Lang made off in a return dash, only to see the ball taken and carried down the line by Miss lNeilson, who ran right througn and shot, but' missed. Then the green forwards again attacked, and a shot from the wing went high. Miss Roadiey jumped to save, but the ball fell off her hand on to the, stick of Miss Z. Humphries, who nunted the ball into the net — a neac effort. Wairarapa one. Wellington nil. Soon another shot from Miss Z. Humphries went wide, and Wellington attacked from the 25 bully. The ensuing play travelled up and down field, and then the greens assumed the offensive, a good attempt by Miss Hewson being knocked behind. A loose Wellington rush saw the yellows enter the Wairaiiapa circle, but faulty shooting spoiled a good opening, and Miss Neilson made off, Miss Tinney driving the greens back. Wellington had entered the Waiiiarapa circle when the spell was taken.

The yellows set lip a hot attack, Miss Lang missing with a fine shot Miss Neilson went off in a solo effort, hut lost the hall in the circle. Miss Lang had the leather sent out to her and charged down the line, and Wairarapa were equal to the occasion. Good, clean hard hitting kept Wellington on the offensive until Miss Neilson again came away, but the shot flew over the goal. Back again came Wellington, and Miss Dements shot failed. Exciting play was the order in the Wairarapa, circlo."a penalty relieving the situation for the preens. Miss Orr sent the greens away and Miss Hewsoa carried on into the circle, Miss Tiimoy relieving. Hard play followed in front of the Wellington goal. Miss Roadley clearing. The yellows took a hand ?.t attacking, and "were repulsed, Wairarapa keeping on the offensive for the next five" minutes, but no score attended their efforts. After a spell of defensive work Wellington came away to the greens' 25. and on numerous occasions"they were within shooting distance, biri wittiout avail. SOUTHLAND (4) v. WEST COAST

From the start Southland had the advantage for a considerable time. From the outer edge of the circle Miss S. Martin accepted, and landed a fine goal. Southland one, West Coast nil. A resultory piece of play was followed by a pass.g rush by Southland, and Mshs Bain made a nice shot and goaled.— , Southland 2, "West Coast nil. The ■Southerners attacked, and Miss Gilliu cleared. Miss Kear opened a Coast attack, and play continued in the Southland territory. Miss Rabbidge was responsible for the return, and play heVi in the Coast's ground. An up and down game was witnessed during the next few stages, and West Ooast attacked. The ball went behind. The. Coasters came at it again andl Miss I. Rayson missed the goal by inches. Miss Williams led down and attempted to goal but failed. West Coast continued to press down, but were unable to score. Uninteresting play was relieved by a 25 bully which took place, and Miss C. Roberts secured and carried the bail into the circle and scored. West Coast 1 Southland 2 On resuming, West Coast attacked mud Southland returned. The game went slowly backwards and forwards, Southland having the advantage. From an attack Southland shot, but missed by inches. Southland* pressed down, and assailed their opponents' circle, but were unable to make good. Miss Serell led an interesting Southland attack, and in less tha na minute Miss S. Martin secured and goaled. Southland three. West Coast one. Play held in the Coast's territory for the greater part of the second spell. West Coast camp away with Miss Rabbidge saving.
