SIRES OF THE SEASON.

GRAVITATION

The above young sire is looked to do stud duty in Wanganui, and breeders oi: the thoroughbred should be well satisfied at having such a fine bred horse at their disposal. Mr. Geo. Chamberlain seems to possess the happy knack of always securing something good, and in Gravitation he has made a good choice, for a better-looking ihorfce, combined with good breeding it would be hard to find. He stands 16 bands one, being a rich brown, with beautiful bone, and a commanding appearance. Birkenhead, the sire of Gravitation, was bred, in England, and imported to this country by the Hon. J. D. Ormond, being by the great Orme, out of Tragedy, by Ben Battle. Stepfeklt. Gravitation's mother, was one of the best brood mares in the Dominion, and is the dam of those brilliant performers Provocation, Elevation, and others. She the dam of Bohadil. was a great performer, and her son's racing career in Australia will long be remembered, he having run 23 races, winning 13, second 6, and third 2. being only unplaced twice, winning £7,697. Stepniak, another brother of Stepfeldt's, was one of New Zealand's leading sires, being at the head of the winning sires on many occasions. From the above it will be seen that Gravitation possesses the very best racing strain in his veins, and he cannot ftail to make a. name for himself at the stud. He has already left some promising yearlings, two of his stock being shipped to the other side only recently. He is standing at a remarkably low figure, and a horse so stoutly bred should be standing at a much higher fee. Good paddocking is provided for mares from a distance, with the best of care a.nd attention. Further particulars may be obtained from the advertisement in another column.
