LOSSES AMONG DAIRY COWS.

IN SOUTH TARAIS'AKI

Settlers in various parts of the Okaiawa district report serious losses among their dairy herds. One has lost four cows, all valuable animals bought at big prices during the past winter In this case symptoms were practically identical with those of animals which have been "blown," so that the cause of death would probabl ybe gaseous indigestion. In another instance a settler had nineteen serious losses in connection with the calving, and as one settler remarked, "Land up to £80 an acre the dairy farmer cannot stand too much of that sort of tiling.''
