Myers and Fowlds, Messrs. T. W. Leys, F. La wry, A. E. Glover, W. J. Napier, and P- J. Nerheny, all extending a cordial welcome, and hoping that Sir Joseph Ward would long be spared to the people in tho interests of the Liberal party and tho progress of New Zealand. c Sir Joseph Ward, in replying, said that so far as tho future was concerned ho had no intention of forcing himself upon any party or asking or accepting any favour. Replying to more direct suggestions that he should assume tho leadership of the Liberal party, he spoke at some length, but he gave no definite indication of his attitude.
