The sqcilsl.; atid damte^tobo, held under the auspice:/ of tha Wang-anui Friendly Societies in tho Fire Brigade Hall this evening should meet "with'success. This is the first function of the kind inaugurated by the combined friendly societies, the officers of which are desirous of promoting a.feeling of self-interest amongst - tho members of the kindred societies, and it was with this object in view that the suggestion to have a social and dance was projected. The arrangements for the occasion are completed ; the now popular band under Mr C. H. Fox will supply the music for the evening, and the catering will be in the capable hands cf Messrs Dustin, Ltd.
Under the auspices of tho Wanganui and Suburban Card Association, the tournament was continued in the Railwaymen's Hall last ovening, when Castlecliff and Drivers tried/oonelusions. Tlie former won by four points.
