NORTH ISLAND INCREASE,
DECREASE IN SOUTH ISLAND.
Tho returns of the number of sheep in tho Dominion, as on April 30 last shows that the total on that date was 23,661,151,. as- against 23,750,153 in 1912, an increase of 89,002. The number in tho North Island shows an increaso of 219,766, of which th© Well-ington-West Coast district is responsible for £188,843, the Napier-Gisborno district for 24,504, and tho Auckland district for 6419. The South Island shows a decrease of 308,768, Qfaago being accountable for a decrease of 154,----338, €&nterbury-Kaikouiia for 123,053, and Marlborough, Nelson and Weaflarid for 20,377. The totals for'the various districts this year are as"'follows:— Auckland, 1,265,976; Nanier-Gisborne, 5,620,120; Wellington-West' Coast, 5,951,759; (Marlborough-Nelson-West-land. 1.287.256; Canterbury-Kaikoura, 5,045,439; Otago, 4,490,601.
