A GOVERNOR'S EVICTION.
(United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, Juno 20. A large meeting of citizens at tho Town Hall, the Lord Mayor presiding, decided to appeal to the Privy Council •against tho High Court decisicxn in the Government House eviction case. Subscription lists were opened to meet the costs of the appeal, and £800 was subscribed in the room. The speakers claimed that tho majority of the people favour retaining Government House as a residence for the Governor-General. Tn view of the nrovious verdict of the Supreme Court.of the Stats, as opposed in the High Court, a verdict on a question such a.s this which has stirred the hearts of the people, should ho tested before tho highest tribunal in the Empire.
