FISH EATS A RODENT.
(From Our Travelling Reporter.) MARTON, April 4. On o has read of Jonah being swallowed by a whale, a, gnat being swallowed by a camel, and big fish getting on the outside of tho smaller fry, but it n not often that one hears of trout having a penchant for mice. And yet apparently, a representative of the finny !ribo was cruising round the Rangitikei locking for a breakfast not usually lound within its watery haunts, and seeiv.v: a, little mouse having its morning ablutions embraced the opportunity of having a meaty meal. Opening its month, down went the little rodent, to be resurrected again not long aftsr\».ards, when the trout in question fell a prey to a Mang-aweka angler's rod. "When,the fish w.ns opentd. it was found to have swallowed a mouse ahoufc eight inches lone from its noK^ to tho tip of its tail. The trout weighed between fotir and five pounds.
