PUBLIC SERVICE EXAMINATIONS.

(Per Press Association ) WELLINGTON, Mar. 25. Interviewed on the subject of the Public Service examinations, Mr Robertson, Commissioner, said the new regulations about to be re-issued would show the whole position. There had never been r.ny 'intention on the part of the Comiriissioners to examine everybody in the service. There was no idea of'putting qualified surveyors or engineers to examinations, or any other men who already have qualifications. The intention of the examinations provided for the clerical division is that officers shall bo enabled to show they are capable of performing the work of'the Department m which they are employed. The Commissioners have no instructions in any way that, examinations shall be held m any unclassified department. The Commissioner hoped the new regulations would be published before the end ol this-week-
