A team of Taihapa bowlers consistiug of Messrs Neagle, Wansbrough, Murrell, Johnston, Finch, Shanley, Varnham, James and Pow<?ll journeyed to Huntervill-e yesterday to play a match against the local club. Owing to, some misunderstanding, the Huntervilleclub did not have rinks to oppose the visitors, so a scratch game had to be played. A rink consisting of Berry (sk), Fetherick (Hunterville); James- and Johnston (Taihape), beat a rink consisting of Powell (sk), Wansbrough (Taihape)j and Chisholm and Morrison (Hunteryille).

One of the largest consignments of stockL yet sent from Taihape left on Wednesday morning for Petone. The consignment consisted of about 60 trucks of sheep.

The hospital authorities have accepted the offer of Mr G. A. Somerville, who is leaving Taihape, and giving up business. (Mr Somerville has to clear all his stocky and has offered, th*oufih Dr Boyd, 5 per cent of the proceeds to tho hospital funds.

Mr John McCormick, of Mangawcka, died at the Wanganui Hospital on Saturday. The late gentleman about two years ago swallowed a piece of rabbit bone, which got |nto his lung, and could not be dislodged. This was the cause.of his death. The late Mr McCormick, who had been a resident of Mangaweka for about eight years, leaves a widow and four children.

An. official of the Lands Department evidently stirred up by the articles by the Mangaweka settler on the land aggregation, has been on a visit to the district, and is making searching inquiries.
