WELLINGTON, January 28. v Summary.—-The centre of a cyclonic storm has passed through Cook Strait, the barometer falling until midnight, "but (rising shiairply aftentfaa-ds, with winds changing to strong eouthei-lies. Heavy rain fell in most parts and the weather turned cold. Forecast. —Present indications are—^daereased southerlies, the winds hacking then by west to northerly and increasing after about 24 hours, cold changeable and showery weathetr, {yad a temple) a/ry ajnrprove*merit following, -but the latter part of the week m likely to be very unsettled. The barometer is now rising steadily, but low pressure is due to pass in the south about Friday night.
