ST. HELEN'S HOME INQUIRY.

AUCKLAND, Jan. 27. The St. Helen's Home inquiry was rt.iiimed to-day. Tho fifth complaint received' was from W. Stevenson, a railway porter, of a country station, asking for an inquiry into the accommodation and as to tho treatment of his wife, who was confined-at the Home on May 11th. discharged 12 df*ys later, and took ill the same- night and died on July 31st of pneumonia.

Dr Tracey Inglis. the first witness to give evidence, referring to the issuing of the death certificate, said it was not customary, when making out a certificate to specify the exact place where <kath occurred. He denied that it was customary to ask the relatives of a. depoased patient to omit the name of the FJome when making death announcements through the newspapers. Dr Goldstein, recalled^ by Mr Mays, detailed the condition of Mrs ChamberJnm when he attended her at the St. Helen's Home, stating that she was suffering from lung trouble and that she was very feverish. Witness said that he agreed with Dr Inglis' diagnosis of Mrs Chamberlain's case.

Witness, who was in the box all day, was cross-examined at length by Mr Mays, Mr. Skelt ; o,n, and "Mrs. Emily Nficol. In the main, the witness corroborated tho evidence given by Dr Inn\is with reference to Mrs Chamberlams death.
