TURAKINA MAORI GIRLS' SCHOOL.

Tho annual prizeglving took place on luesday afternoon^ December 17th, when a large number of friends of the school, both pakeha and Maori, v.assembled in the pretty grounds in front of tho school to witness the proceedings. The Rev. G. Budd,", convenor of tho Maori Mission Committee, read the report of the' Inspectors on the recent examination. Mr. McCully's report on the Scripture paperg -and Mrs. McCully s on the cooking ;and sewing, were also read. Professor Hewitson, befdre distributing the prizes, gave a most amusing and instructive address to the girls, which they thoroughly enjoyed. . Tho following is the prize-list :— j Dux of the school. The'girls sang'several hymns during the prize-giving, and afterwards while afternoon tea was being handed round, gavo jSomo very -finished poi dances, which delighted the onlookers. Mrs. Sutherland, on behalf of the natives prasent, thanked the convenor and committee for all. they had done for the girls attending the school.
