The annual junior representative match between Wanganui and" Oroua has been definitely fixed for Boxing Day on Cook's Gardens.

The South Taranaki team arrived in town, by last night's train. They play Wanganui on Cook's Gardens to-day and to-morrow, play commencing this morning .at 11-30. ' The Inucheon adjournment will he taken at one o'clock, play recommencing at two. The players will be entertained at afternoon tea at 4 p.m., and stumps will be drawn probably at 6-30.

The Wanganui team is undoubtedly a very strong one, albeit it is generally opined that one or two of its personnel have yet to justify their inclusion. The eleven is an exceptionally strong one in batting, and should make a very creditable stand. The wicket appears to be an excellent one, and high scoring should be the order. Mr. W. iM. Luxford will officiate as umpire representing Wanganui. Should the present glorious weather continue, a most tenjoyable game should eventuate.

In the field the local:team may n&t prove co strong, though as a wholc'tli* fielding should be pretty solid. The bowling seems to "be the weakest .-spot; there are five (bowlers in the team, but to my mind there is', too much of a oneness about itl There is little variety— oho left hand and four right hand trundlers of the fast-medium type. What is needed is a slow bowler, and for this reason I would like to have seen Brown included. Were the match being played on the College ground Brown would bie sure of selection, but on account of the smallness of the outfield at Cook's this is probably the reason why he has been excluded. So far this season Brown has taken twenty wickets at a cost of 188 Tuns. The first round of the senior competition having been concluded, the positions of the teams in this and other grades are detailed below: — SENIOR. Team. P. W. L. Pta. College A. ... 5 5 — 12 College B 5 4 1 10 St. Paul's ... 5 3 2 8 Wanganui B 5 2 3 5 Wanganui A 4 — 4 — Aramoho ..." 4 — 4 —
