MORE LIGHT

To the Editor

Sir, —A sense of contrition that grows with tho hours for inadvertently ignoring (in my letter of Dec. 8th 3 entitled "Morie Light") the efforts of politicians and others in the direction of land*reform,- calls for the "amende honourable," and with your kind assistance I will endeavour briefly to present the position in its true light. In my referenco to the retention of land by the Legislature for industrial purposes, appeal's the paragraph: "Allow me to outline an urgent need that evidently was not anticipated." Now it must be patent to everyone who follows the course of polities that such needs were anticipated by advanced thinkers in and out of the House, and provision in the way of State lands advocated by the Hon. John Ballance, .but prejudice and hostile interests combined have rendered his great scheme abortive, or nearly so. With apologies for again troubling you. and thanks for .anticipated favour. I am, etc., NATIONAL SENTIMENT. Fordell, Dec. 13th.
