AUCKLAND'S ST. HELENS' HOSPITAL
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 16
Mr. Kettle, S'M., sat this afternoon in connection with the inquiry into the administration of the St. Helens' Hospital. Mr. Kettle said his commission had not come to hand, so the inquiry would require to be adjourned. Mr. Mays, who represented the Health Department', said ho •understood' certain distinct, charges; would "be made, including < one- of maladministration, also that there would be general complaints as to the- scope and situation of the.institution.
Mr.* Kettle said he had been authorised to state that the proceedings would be open to the-press and public, and also that the fullest inquiry would be made into everything, and statements taken upon oath".
The inquiry was then ladjourned until Wednesday.
Mr. Kettle, explained ihat they could merely .lay out thef lines and then adjourn .the taking of .evidence until January Bth. .. ~ ■:%
