PRISONERS SUICIDE,

Sidney Bunyan and Harry Southcliff, undergoing life sentences for murder, committed suicide in their cells at Maidstone. Bunyan was sentenced on 13th September, 1909, and Southcliff in November, 1907. They •worked in the tinsmith's shop in prison, and made and secreted a crude knife. They left farewell messages, Bunyan blaming the Home Secretary ibecauee he would not give hope for the future.
