The North Eastern Railway announces that it offered on Thursday to reinstate every striker at his old pay, but was not prepared to dismiss new hands whom it had promised permanent positions. The strikers apparently believe that this reservation is likely to interfere with promotion.
A twelve hours' conference on Friday was without result. Both parties ara hopeful.
