THE STAR OF CANADA CASE.
(Per Press Association.') WELLINGTON, Dec. 13. Mr Justice Chapman to-<lay delivered judgment in the Star of Canada salvage action. /The evidence was heard' iait Gisiboa-ne. The Tyser Line and John Hart, master of the Star of lOanadia, were the [plain/tiffs, and the Gisibborn© Sheepfavmers' Frozen Meat Company the defendants. The claim -was for £5824 and interest, the amount of alleged overcharge for lighterage in connecting with the salvaging of the frozen meat from the stranded steamer the Star Of Canada. The total amount plaid for lighterage 'was £8363, and the plaintiffs claimed that the lamountt, according to the Gisborne rates, should have chen" £2539. His Honour decided thiat the defendant company was entitled t° £3100 for tho work of lighenage and general salvaging olf cargo, Tn assessing this amount his Honour considered the interest accruing on the larger sum paid. Judgment would be for the plaintiffs for £4963 19s 6d, with costs.
