The "Tribune," which usually reflects the official .view, says that Britain, in ■admitting? the right to subsidise, has retreated from her former contention that exemption from tolls is an infrac-tion-of the treaty.
The "New York Evening Post" said the only straight and manly course was to repeal the dubious arid offensive clause, and thus escape a domeatic blunder. Otherwise, arbitration was the only course.
