AUSTRALIA'S POSITION.

'■ MELBOURNE, December 12. In the Senate, Mr. Pearce, Federal Defence Minister, said the Government had come to a definite conclusion regarding the representation of Australia on the Imperial Defence Committee. The, Government favoured full conferences of representatives of the United Kingdom and the overseas Dominions, at periods of not less than two years/ and meeting in the Dominions wherever possible. Subsidiary conferences for dealing with particular matters When necessary were also favoured, as well as periodical visits of British Ministers to the Dominions.

Mr. Pearce added that the Government was not corresponding with the British Government regarding representation, either on the lines of Canada, or any other lines.
