PROSPECTS BRIGHT. BIG DEMAND FOR TREES. (By Our Travelling Reporter.) MARTON, October 30. Tho fruit industry is apparently making great headway in New Zealand, and according: to Mr." J. G. Wilson, President of tho New Zealand Farmers' Union, the orchard is going to increase in value and importance. In the north of Auckland, where climatic conditions wero most favourable, big areas have been taken up for fruit farming; in : Central Otago the industry was to b© j assisted by irrigation; whilst at Nelson and Motueka hundreds of acres were being planted out with trees, so much po that thia year the importation of fruit trees was rendered nepes"yiry in order to meet the great demand.
