THE MUSSEL SCALE.
An Ashburton orchardist who has had to contend with mussel scale says that last, year he treated the affected trees with red oil emulsion. Tho first application was ineffective, but the second gave better results. This year he tried the same remedy on some trees and prepared emulsion oil on others. Tho latter ho found more expensive, but it yas cleaner, far less troublesome to use, more economical, and much more effective than anything ho had tried before.
