ENTRIES CLOSE TO-DAY.

Doggy men from the extreme north ' to tho extreme south of New Zealand look upon tho Wanganui Kennel Club ; Show as tho best conducted dog show j held under the auspjees of any Agricul- j tural Show in the Colony. The reason ; is not hard to seek, for the ground marshal (Mr. J. T. Sinclair) is one of : tha keenest dog fanciers, and the chief steward, Mr. Jos. Soler, is most enthusiastic in doggy matters. Under their regime- tho W.K.C. has established a, reputation and earned tho confidence of the fanicer. Exhibitors know, when they have- consigned their canine pets to the W.K.C, that they will be well fed, carefuly tended, and the utmost care taken in seeing that they aro safely returned to their owners. * Anyono who took a stroll through the dog shed last year could not help being struck" by the neatness of the benches, j the freshness of the bedding, tho clean i tins-ful of clean water, and tho whole- ' some, atmosphere of the place; whilst the methodical and expeditious manner in which the dogs were taken off their benches, conducted to the Show rings, taken back and returned, to their benches without tho slightest hustle or confusion, all spoke volumes for tho conipetenco of i'o chief steward and his able assistin ;. Tha club have catered well for the 'aney. and have provided no loss than 4-"9 classes for every kind and description of dog. Besides the club's prizes there are some. 60 special prizes, including the British bull dog champion trophy, valued at 75 gn-s. In addition to this valuable trophy, the 8.8.D.C. offer nino other trophies. The Irish Terrier Club also offer about £25 worth of trophies, and the Xew ZeaInnd Fox Terrier Club donate a nice j trophy for tho best dog or bitch, rough or smooth fox terrier -: n the Show. The chief steward is sanguine that tho coniinp; Show will eclinso even last year's splendid record.
