WANGANUI J.C. SPRING MEETING.

CONCLUDING DAY. The Wanganui Jockey Club are to be congratulated upon the success of their Spring meeting, which was brought to a close on Saturday. Though a strong -uiiM blew all Saturday, the weather .remained fine, only one light and brief shower falling. There was a large attendance of the public, and some very interesting racing was witnessed. In nearly'-every instance the fields were good, some being very large, and several finishes were quite exciting. As on the Thursday, everything worked smoothly, there being a total absence of hitches of any kind. The (Harrison Band's excellent programme was again much appreciated. Dustin's. Ltd., won golden opinions by the excellent lunch provided. The totalisator was kept very busy, the receipts showing <a large advance over the money handled at the previous Spring meeting, the figures being as follows: Second day 1911 meeting £12,746, second day this meeting £16,----975. The field were despatched to a very bad start, Master Sylvia and Merry Frank being left at the post. Piriwai and Prosper shot out in front, and led Makara by three lengths to the straight, where the latter forged to the front, and won comfortably by a length from Piriwai. Merry Frank was fourth. Semaphore assumed the lead entering the straight, and gradually forging ahead, won comfortably by a length from Lockwood, Avaunoe close up third. Lady Mildred, Sanguinary, Princess Flo and Alepto followed .in that order. Time, 1.18 4-5.
