A somewhat exciting incident was witnessed at the Gore railway yards yesterday, wheri a shunting engine was seen- racing, at a tremendous speed .tp, the w\' l'er tank, ■onv.4-.df the attacned' trucks being bn fire., It transpired that the truck containedcases, of. petrol, one ,of which WaSevi-; dently leaking. A spark ! f"'orifth6 engine had set the truck afire. At the. water tank water wa^ applied to ,ihe~ truck, the effect 'only boihgrtoV spread the .flames, wlijlch ; we're ultimately extinguished w|th .gravel and raiid.
