ATTACK ON THE GOVERNOR

Tho "outgoing Ministry continue the administration of the departments until a--new.Cabinet;-is formed.
Lnto last night Speaker Carm. resigned his position. This puts the situation in si'tangle, which, is hai*d to unravel except by a dissolution. •' .
The House will meet on Tuesday.
Without the Speaker .there are forty r. four members oneachiwde, ijhe Liberals and Independents combining against tho Labourites." '
. 'None of the Labour Party will accept tho Speakcrship.
The Hon. W. A Hqlman states that tho resignation of thd Government was net contemplated until the "resignation of Messrs Home and Dunn jpaused the loss of tho working 'majority on which the Ministry had relied .since, taking office. He saw they could not carry the a ijourninent motion, and advised tho Lieu tenant-Governor to prorogue the House until tho bye-elections. This advice was not accepted, and the only course left was to resign.
The Hon. A. Griffith, interviewed, attacked tho Lieutenant-Governor, asserting that he had shown partiality. Ho stated that he had disfranchised tho people by not acting on the advice of the Government, which on the last division of the Homo showed a majority
of five.
