AT THE SCHOOLS.

Tho various schools assembled as usual yesterday morning, when short, simple ceremonies oi^a, • patriotic nature were, held, and Empire lessons given for a-bpui',an. bpur.., ~ W.-, At the District High School, lessons were: j given : pa ; .''l Empire . Buildersi" " I'he Developing Power Of the Crown,'' "How ,the Coronation Interests the Empire," and "History and Meaning of the Union Jack."-,>.,; ' ;

At Queen's Park, the flag.was saluted, patriotic songs sung, and the children addressed, after which Coronaiiipn; medals wer^t distributed. The lessons were given on " Kingship and -Its •Responsibilities,?' >"<Society and Government," "The Crown and the Empire and Its Scholars,": and ''The Union Jack-rand Its History."

At ;*BEKigamu East, the ceremony of salittnig -ihe flag was gone through, addresses gwfien,-and patriotic songs sung by the children. Mr J. Jones (Mayo r) distributed the swimming prizes, and Coranationimedals and gifts^

-After tike various ceremonies t)ie scholars were dismissed to enable them to witness the proceedings of the afternoon.

At the Gonville School, patriotic songs were. sung, a loyal address .was given by the chairman, of the School Committee <Mr F^ Webb Jones) and the Coronation medals were presented to the children by the members of the School Committee
