WASHINGTON, June 6. One of the witnesses called before the committee of the Senate that is inquiring into tin* probable operations of the proposed Canadian reciprocity ngreement was Mr. Ridder, representing the Newspaper Publishers' Association.
Mr. ftidder told the committee that llio only intenjit which the newspapers in this countMphad in the agreement was tliat prodmrnl by their desire to fi-eo themselves from the paper manufacturers' trust, which now had publishors at its mercy.
Newspaper readers, he pointed out, would benefit by cheap paper, as the money thus saved would be used in supplying a larger and better news ser- -
