Complications have arisen owing to the fact that the Victorian boot manufacturers are under the State law, and are able to disregard the Federal arbitration award, fixing the number of apprentices at one to hhree men. Tho Victorian manufacturers have approached The Legislative Council with a view to getting the State Act amended, so as to limit the number of apprentices as in other States.

Mr Forsyth, the employers' representative on the Northern Collieries Wages Board, has resigned, leaving only the chairman on the Board.
A priest was fin-ed at Forster for assaulting with a whip a young man who, in reply to the priest's question, said he was not going to mass. The priest says he made a mistake in the man's identity.
