AN EXPERTS VALUABLE ADVICE
(United Press Association. —Copyright.) Received September 9, 12.1 a.m.
LONDON, September 8
At the British Association meeting, Professor Ifcsvenden, of the Niagara Power Commission, submitted a detailed scheme based on a thret1 thousand horse-power plant, comprising a solartank, generating low-pressure .steamapplied turbines, pumping water for .such supply of horse-power at onethird the cost of 'steam engines. He said if Britain erected windmills on the cliffs for tho purpose of lifting seawater, and applied' the fall to turbines connected with dynamos, sufficient power could be generated to drive all the machinery used by manufacturers, railways, and motors in tho country. For portable works alcohol distilled from fruit compared favourably with petrol at the present price.
