GARRISON BAND BAZAAR.

In spite of the wet evening there was a capital attendance at the committee meeting hold last evening at the Council Chambers in connection with the above bazaar. Mr George Spriggens presided. Various reports were submitted showing satisfactory progress.

Tlie secretary reported that Mr. Kirkwoed, the well-known artist, haa kindly donated a picture, and Mr T. H. Battle, with his usual generosity, had also given a painting. Both gentlemen were thanked.

Offers of assistance in connection with T.ho dancing and music were received from the Misses Foster, Miss Hazel Steuart, and Masters Irving. Accepted with thanks.

It was resolved that the secretary v.rito to tho Premier and apply for railway passe* for the band from Wanganiii to Wellington; also that a deputation consisting of the Mayor, Messrs. Spriggins, Muir. and Colonel Wait wait on the Ministers who will shortly be visiting Wanganui in connection with the same matter.

Tho amendment that Mr Short, the lato King's trumpeter, and a wellknown authority on brass band.music had boon appointed judge of the Ballarat contest, was received with satisfaction.

Mr E. Campbell was thanked for his offer to instal electrical novelties in the shape of coin in the basin, globes, weighing machine, etc. The "art union tickets, entitling holder to free admission to the bazaar, are selling freely, and the secretary will be pleased to forward books of tickets to anyone willing to help in this; direction. The committee meet again next Thursday evening.
