Major Nicholas, who was murdered by his son, refused .a keeper for him, despite the fact that ho was suffering from sunstroko, and religious melancholia. Tho s:m was at one time an inmata of the Auckland Asylum.
A verdict of wilful murder has been returned against Nicholas.
