At the Supreme Court to-day, a yoinig man named James MJcTntyre was sentenced to four years' imprisonment dii a charge of stealing jewellery from tho Windsor Hotel. ' WELLINGTON, August IG. At the Supreme Coin*; to-day Arthur Cyril Dow-ell, charged wioii fraudulently tending a telegram to- Isaas* Reid, of Waterton, near Ashburtou, asking for money, signing himself "H. A. l|eid," was found guilty. The same accused pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing $'. pair of field glasses. Accused and Reid's daughter had been keeping cmnpany, and it was in her name he telegraphed to her father for money. He was sentenced to three ... onths' for theft, and 12 montks for lurgery, sentences to be concurrent, and to he-. served in Invercargill gaol.
