WORKS COMMITTEE.—TIio report o? the Works Committee of August 11, 1910, was adopted, as, follows:— Re Standard Surveys.—We recommend the Council to accept the following offer made by the Land and Surveys Department for repairing, placing, and extending the standard surveys within the old and new portions of the Borough, i.f-., the Council agrees that j the streets and footpaths may be broken up where necessary and reinstated at the Council's cost." That the surveyor shall bo provided by the Department at Government.cost and with- ■ out charge to the Council. That the Council will provide at its own cost all 'unskilled labour necessary, and will pay ! wages of chainmen and linemen news'sarv. Re Trees, Cook's Gardens: We have ordered the removal of three pine trees near the Maria Place entrance in St. Hill Street, and have directed that the St. Hill Street slopes of the ground be planted with shrubs.—Adopted. FINANCE COMMITTED—The report of the Finance Committee, oth August, 1910, wns as follows, and was adopted: Re Employees' Sick Benefit; Society: We -recommend that.consideration oF granting assistance to the pbore be held over, pending the result of tlie proposed legislation dealing with this matter during* the present session. Re Loan from Sinking Funds: The Committee considered an application for a loan of £350 at 5£ per cont. We have directed that a valuation be made, and if satisfactory the Commissioners be asked to approve of the investment.

GAS COMMITTEE.—The report of the Gas Committee, as follows, was adopted :—New Condenser: The committee has directed the Ensine»r to order a condenser of 750,000 ft. capacity per day, for delivery in Anril next, the cost of same to be 'pnid for out of revenhe.
